1. Introduction

We are now in the season of gazing up at the starry July night sky, and it is time for Tanabata, the time to entrust our wishes to the Milky Way. This time, we will introduce the special goshuin stamp of Jorakuji Temple, which is themed around the auspicious meaning of sending wishes to the heavens.

The lucky number "seven" has been considered auspicious since ancient times, and the Tanabata festival, which weaves together the eternal love of Orihime and Hikoboshi, is said to have special benefits that will lead to the fulfillment of wishes. In Chichibu, there is a beautiful tradition of celebrating Tanabata in August, and the auspicious customs unique to this region also give special meaning to the goshuin stamps.

Enjoy the special good fortune that can only be experienced at this time of year, which combines the auspicious meaning of Tanabata, which has been popularly known as "guided by the stars," with the prayers entrusted to bamboo leaves.

In Buddhism, the number "seven" is highly valued as a sacred number that transcends the "six realms," a world of delusion, and the auspiciousness of Tanabata represents the power to guide wishes into reality.

Why not feel the auspicious blessings of Tanabata in your hands, carrying your wishes along with the summer breeze and making your life flow as pure and beautifully as the Milky Way?
